Two-time Indy 500 winning crew chief, Jim Dilamarter shakes down his pavement modified at Irwindale Event Center.
The famed Vels Parnelli Jones Team Manager, who was best known for his win at Indy with Al Unser in the iconic Johnny Lightning car in 1970, managed Jones’ business and collection until it was acquired by the IMS Raceway Museum last year. The Pinto bodied, Troyer chassis calls to mind the pavement modified of the 1970’s-80’s–and is built around a car given to him by Ed “Isky’s Cams” Iskenderian–who wanted it towed from his yard. “There was a tree growing through it when we got to it”, remarks Dilamarter.
